Michael T. Waldrop, Sr., CGC, LEED AP
FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN
As Founder and Chairman of Blue Cord, Michael Waldrop continues to shape the vision and future of the organization he built. His passion for growth drives strategic decisions that strengthen the business and expand its reach, while ensuring the company remains true to its core values.
With a forward-thinking approach, Michael provides clarity and confidence in navigating complex challenges and seizing new opportunities. His commitment to long-term success and sustainability reflects a vision that goes beyond business growth, building a lasting legacy for employees, customers, and stakeholders alike.
Michael’s journey began in 1993, where he enlisted in the Army as an Infantry Private Soldier while attending college at Clemson University. He was trained and educated as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle driver, dismount, and gunner and was selected at an early age to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS). In 1996, he graduated from OCS going on to become one of the youngest commissioned officers in his class.
After several years of service, Michael entered the Inactive Ready Reserves so he could still serve his country if called upon. In 2006, he was called back to active duty to serve as a U.S. Army Infantry Captain during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. During this assignment, he commanded an Afghanistan National Army Rifle Company consisting of 150 foreign soldiers. He participated in all major battles between 2006-2007 and was wounded in action during the Battle of Panjwai in Operation Medusa. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal as well as two (2) Bronze Stars for Valor, the fourth-highest combat award bestowed by the U.S. Army for Valor.
Following his military career, and as a service-disabled Veteran himself, Michael has strived to create a community that leads the nation in job creation and business opportunities for area Veterans. Knowing the struggles Veterans face in returning home, adjusting to civilian life, and finding employment, he has built his professional endeavors on providing guidance, support, business, and employment opportunities for those who have sacrificed so much to ensure this nation’s continued freedom.
Michael is very proud of his two children, Marilyn and Tommy. Marilyn is a graduate of Michael’s alma mater, Clemson University. Tommy is attending The University of Mississippi pursuing a degree in Business Management. During his downtime, Michael enjoys traveling with his children. They all enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in and near the water.
